This Club is run entirely by unpaid volunteers.

There are currently about 12 people who are making this whole Club run for the benefit of around 120 children.  As you can imagine it's quite a bit of work sometimes so the best thing is to spread it out which we think = less work!

We have filled two of our recent vacancies - Welfare Officer (Emma Warren) who was an existing volunteer - and the Registrations Officer - thanks to Darren Sayer, whose daughter has now gained a place due to Darren's volunteer role with us.

We still have 2 vacancies for volunteers:

  • Volunteer coordinator - working with a Committee member to finalise the Volunteer Pack, which contains info, policies, etc that new volunteers need.  Being a point of contact for potential volunteers.  Needs to be an approachable person with good people skills and able to identify the right job for someone and vice versa!  You will be required to have a clear CRB for this role and you will be required to work within the ASA's Code of Conduct (see the Club Rules and Info page).
  • Disability Officer - Make and develop links with local disability clubs.  You will be required to have a clear CRB for this role and you will be required to work within the ASA's Code of Conduct (see the Club Rules and Info page)
  • Press and Publicity Representative - we need someone with either established links with the local media, ie newspapers, magazines, authorities, etc, or a willingness to establish these contacts, to communicate our successes.  We'd like this person to be approachable and able to put together clear press releases, write short articles for the local papers and other things like this as they may crop up.  This is an occasional job (our success is more frequent!) maybe writing a press release after a gala, special event or presentation evening, obtaining clearance from Club officials to send it out, and putting it out to all appropriate media contacts.  Time needed - maybe 2 hours every 6 months.  You may need to be able to take clear digital photos and MUST understand and be compliant with the Clubs Child Protection Policy, work within the ASA's Code of Conduct and have a clear CRB (see the Club Rules and Info page)
  • If you think you have the skills to help us, or are willing to learn with us, and have the small amount of time that these jobs take up, please contact us on broadstairsswim@tesco.net
