There is an expectation that information gained whilst volunteering for the Club is kept confidential, unless required to be disclosed for a particular reason, ie by the ASA.

Abide by the ASA Code of Ethics at the given time

Have the interests of the swimmer as a primary concern in all activities

Treat all swimmers with equity and respect all abilities, regardless of race, colour, language, religion, birth or social status

Aim to develop swimmers in their abilities, skills and qualities, and set targets that are challenging but attainable

Behave in a manner that is a positive example in attitude and actions

Encourage swimmers to treat others with respect

Present themselves in a professional manner and appearance

Give credit where credit is due

Seek and freely offer opportunities for swimmers to develop in other water based disciplines

Treat all confidential information as confidential, except in exceptional circumstances regarding health and safety, medical requirements, disciplinary action or in accordance with ASA Child Protection procedures and guidelines

Use tact and discretion at all times

Raise issues with the Head Teacher and/or Committee where it is appropriate to do so, or at the request of a Member or swimmer, and deal with these in a prompt manner, giving feedback of action taken where appropriate

Undertake to develop themselves by Continual Professional Development, and freely pass this information to other representatives and Clubs

Not drink alcohol or smoke either before or during teaching or coaching sessions or competitions
