In about 2004, we adopted the Bays system within the Club, which meant that each swimmer was allocated to a 'team'.

When a swimmer joins the Club, they are allocated to a Bay.  Existing members were allocated Bays in the order they were in the register at the time!

Siblings are always put into the same Bay to prevent any conflict.  We try to keep each Level represented in each Bay at all times.  Obviously, when someone leaves, that creates a space, but we will fill it as appropriate.

We have divided the swimmers into 4 Bays (like the Houses in the Harry Potter films!)

We use these to sort out relay teams or polo teams during normal sessions.  Each swimmers' Bay is shown on the poolside register.

The time when the Bays are most important is at the Club gala.  Each swimmer that takes part earns points for their Bay, wherever they come in the race.  We've taken feedback on board from the parents and will be providing swimmers with a hat showing their Bay for events like the gala, water polo, etc.

We have various relays for the swimmers to take part in if they wish, with the Bays competing against each other.  The relays are worth more points, too.  There is a trophy for the Boys relays and Girls relays.

The Bay with the most amount of points from the gala wins the White Trophy, which is presented at the Presentation Evening.
