Gala 2010

Gala 2010

As you may know, we start to plan a gala almost as the final whistle blows for the preceding gala - unfortunately, the 2010 gala has had more than it's fair share of hitches!

As a result, the Committee have decided that we will run a streamlined gala this year, for various reasons, and it will take place in our normal Thursday sessions on

10 June AND 17 June 2010 in the main pool;

17 June 2010 in the teaching pool

Presentation Evening will take place on Friday 2 July at the Broadstairs Pavilion, 7.30pm

Please read the following information carefully as it was updated at 1720hrs 3 June 2010:

Gala 2010

10 June and 17 June 2010 for main pool

17 June ONLY for small pool

This is a quick round up of this year gala which is being run in our normal club times.

This information has changed since the first publication on the website, so please read it carefully.

See the separate table at the bottom of this page for the programme

  • Selections for the Bay Relays (age group) will be published on the website, Facebook and by poster in reception next week, 10 June
  • Please see the Gala Rules page for Relay team rules
  • There will not be the Family Race or Frog/Tadpole races this year
  • There will be no swimming lessons in the main pool on 10 and 17 June, it is gala events only - lessons as normal in the small pool on 10 June, gala events only on 17 June
  • If races run quicker than we anticipate, we might be able to start 8.15 and 9.00 sessions earlier - so feel free to come along a bit earlier just in case!
  • Swimmers may go home after their events, or they can stay and cheer on their Bay team if they wish
  • Please remember to support the club by buying raffle tickets

SWIMMERS INFO

  • You do NOT need to complete an entry form - if you attend for the session, you will be in the event - conversely, if you miss the first week, we will not be repeating races on the second week so please make sure you attend if you wish to take part!
  • As in a normal gala, there will only be ONE race per event - no second chances - swim your best!
  • Please be ready and poolside promptly for the start of your session
  • Remember that you will be collecting points for your Bay by taking part and successfully completing an event. This counts towards a silver trophy that will be presented at our awards evening on 2 July
  • Lifesaving relay - this is open to swimmers from each group providing that the Rescuer has passed their Personal Survival 2 award - the casualty need not have done
  • We have Bay swim hats available, please ask for one tonight or next week if you need one

LIFESAVING RELAY

Please sign up on the form at the reception desk with the names of your swimmers BY the end of session 10 June
